Curricular internships
In this degree program, students are to undertake a curricular internship that allows them to gain experience of work in the academic or industrial sectors.
What is a curricular internship?
A curricular internship takes place during the Degree course, in a defined period and in a specific work context (institutions, companies, laboratories); it is designed to allow students to acquire skills and facilitate professional choices.
The Degree Thesis work may consist in dissertation based on the activity carried out during the internship.
The length of the internship is proportional to the university credits acquired with the activity, considering that 25 hours of work correspond to 1 credit (CFU/ECTS):
- until cohort 2024-25 included: 6 CFU / ECTS curricular internship -> a minimum of 150 work hours are required
- from cohort 2025-26 onward: 9 CFU / ECTS curricular internship -> a minimum of 225 work hours are required.
Before starting the internship, whether it is carried out outside or within the department (Laboratories), students must write to didattica@dsta.unipv.it and copy in matteo.maino@unipv.it (the professor responsible for the curricular internship for the Master's Degree program) to communicate the location and approximate dates on which the internship will take place.
The rules for external curricular internships remain unchanged (see this page for all the rules).
At the end of the curricular internship, the curricular internship completion form must be completed, signed, and emailed to didattica@dsta.unipv.it and matteo.maino@unipv.it.
Only after this step it will be possible to register for the curricular internship exam session.
Those who will carry out their curricular internship within the framework of the Erasmus Traineeship or any other form of international mobility, will not have to register for the curricular internship exam session, as the teaching council will decide on the activity carried out and its possible recognition.
The procedures for activating the agreements for curricular training internships are handled by the Student Career Office. More info here.

What is an extra-curricular internship?
An extra-curricular internship is aimed at recent graduates (no more than twelve months since graduation); it allows them to gain work experience that helps them learn skills and make informed professional choices.
The procedures for activating the Agreements for extra-curricular training internships are handled by the University centre for curriculum counselling (COR).
